10 Traits of Introverts that are Strengths

If you've thought that being an introvert was somehow a negative thing, you're not alone.  For years, I thought that what made me quieter (now widely known as introverted), was something I had to hide. Now that I have many years of life experience to go off of, I’ve learned that the benefits of being an introvert is not something to hide from.

This world is setup to praise the extrovert, the loud and social butterflies of the world. Meanwhile, us introverts quietly go about our business. While, extroverts might seem like they get all the focus at meetings or parties, us introverts have our own set of super powers that when used can make us indispensable to those around us.

Consider the following ten powerful traits of introverts and let's celebrate them...

  1. We're great listeners: Most of us introverts are known for our ability to listen and understand others. This makes us excellent team players and leaders because we can take in all the information around us in order to make informed decisions.
  2. We're thoughtful: One of the many qualities we're known for is our thoughtfulness and attention to detail. This means that we're more likely to think about others first and to things through before acting. Introverts naturally tend to consider others feelings which can lead to better outcomes in the long run.
  3. We're independent: I don't know about you, but I've been told I'm fiercely independent - which makes us comfortable working alone or tackling problems without constant supervision or validation. This makes us self-sufficient, generally hard-working and reliable, which is a huge asset - especially in a leadership role.
  4. We're good at problem-solving: Most introverts are great at analyzing situations, connecting the dots and coming up with creative solutions. This makes us invaluable in high-pressure situations where quick thinking is required.
  5. We're good at managing stress: Because introverts are used to spending time alone, we are not likely to get overwhelmed if we don’t have others to re-charge our batteries. This means that we can usually handle high-stress situations with more ease.
  6. We're good at delegating: As introverts, we are good at recognizing the strengths of others and delegating tasks accordingly. This means that we can build strong teams and as leaders we can get the best out of our employees.
  7. We're good at giving feedback: Because introverts are good at listening and understanding others' perspectives, they are great at giving constructive feedback. This means that we can help others grow and develop.
  8. We're good at building meaningful relationships: Introverts are good at building deep, meaningful relationships with others. While introverts maybe won't build as many relationships as extroverts, the ones we do build are strong, loyal connections and with teams that are dedicated to our mutual goals.
  9. We're good at managing conflict: Introverts are good at staying calm and composed in tense situations. This means that we can resolve conflicts quickly and effectively, which is a huge asset in a work or business environment and in a leadership role.
  10. We're good at staying focused: Because introverts are good at being independent, they tend to also be good at staying focused on the task at hand. This means that we can lead ourselves and our teams to success by staying on track and not getting distracted by unnecessary details.

I’ll be the first to admit that being an introvert might not always be easy, especially in the extroverted world that exists today, however, it can certainly be a major asset for you when you focus on the things that you unique.
